Award winnerDiscover Kensington · Kensington Business Association
March Madness
- The challenge
- During the COVID-19 restrictions of 2021 the association was worried about holding on to its members, and traders needed a reason for the community to come back.
- What we did
- Rented a vacant shop and turned it into the Discover Kensington Pop-Up Hub — an information point, a space for community activities and the base for a month of promotions, a prize wheel and gift card competitions.
- The result
- 89 eligible members signed up during March, and the campaign won the Mainstreet Australia Award for Program, Initiative, Activity or Event (no special rate, budget under $50,000).

Watsonia Shops · Watsonia Traders Association
Uniquely Watsy
- The idea
- Watsonia has its own identity — locals call it "Watsy" — so its campaigns do too. We built the promotions on a name only locals use.
- What we did
- Watsy Bucks vouchers for Father's Day and the footy Grand Final; the Watsyvania dinosaur weekend, supported by the North East Link Program and Banyule City Council; and the weekly Where in Watsy? gift card hunt run through Facebook and Instagram.
- Why it worked
- It's the approach we bring to every precinct: find what makes it distinctive, then build promotions the community recognises as its own.

Burgundy Street Precinct · Heidelberg
The women behind Burgundy Street
- The idea
- In the lead-up to Mother's Day, celebrate the mothers and business women who make the strip what it is — and give the community a reason to shop it.
- What we did
- Four reels, shot and edited in-house, profiling four business owners: their stories, their passion and their place in the strip. Published as a series across the precinct's Facebook and Instagram.
Discover Kensington
Local faces, local stories
- What we did
- Creative content, trader videos and an interactive gift card competition for the Kensington Business Association. We worked with traders to profile the personalities of the street and what they love about Kensington.
- The result
- The videos resonated with the community, encouraged patronage of local businesses and drove a surge in online followers.
